17th annual canoe trip
July 25, 2009 - July 26, 2009
The annual Susquehanna River canoe trip- will be on the July 25-26 weekend this year.
We will be doing the traditional route between Ulster and Wyalusing (Terrytown Access).
We start sometime around noon on Saturday at the bridge in Ulster and spend the night
at the mouth of the Towanda Creek. Then we paddle on down to Terrytown the next day
with a stop for lunch at French Azilum or Standing Stone. The total distance is about 25
miles with most of that distance done on Sunday. We usually finish late in the afternoon
on Sunday. You may come for just Saturday or Sunday or do the whole trip. Bring your
instruments for playing around the campfire and art supplies for painting and drawing.
We leave some of our instruments etc near the campsite so our boats are not overloaded.
Of course bring all your own gear, food and camping stuff if your spending the night.
You can bring your boat or rent canoes and kayaks from David and Melody Buck at
Endless Mountain Outfitters in Sugar Run, PA. Call them to reserve your boat at 570-
746-9140 or kayaks@ptd.net or http://endlessmountainoutfitters.com/
I hope you can make it - its the 17th annual!
Regards- Brian

September Italian Sojourn
September 17, 2009 - September 28, 2009
A wonderful cultural tour of Italy led by Brian Keeler in September of 2009. A few days in
Rome at the beginning will bring participants face to face with the glory that is and was
Rome-such as the ancient, medieval and especially Renaissance and Baroque art,
sculpture and architecture. Then on north to Umbria where we will spend some relaxing
time at the Gioffre family's"Aquaviva Agritourismo" near the town of Todi during olive
harvest season. While there we will be taking day trips to nearby art treasurers in the
towns of Orvieto, Spoleto, Urbino and Perugia. Then motoring up to Florence with stops
on the way to see Piero Della Francesca masterpieces in Borgo San Sepolcro and Cortona.
Next there will be three days in Florence to indulge in some of the greatest art ever
created. FInally finishing in Venice to view the Academia, Ca Rezonico and so much
more. Great food, wine and landscapes to enjoy all the way. This excursion already has
10 former art students of York Academy of Arts joining but there is still room for a few
more. Details are being developed, but inquire and register soon as space is limited.
