Brian Keeler Dance ResuméBrian Keeler’s love for dance stretches back many years to his first exposure to couples social dance in Tucson, Arizona, where he began doing country swing in 1978, (he even took his fist modern class at the U of A back then.) Since that time he has learned from some of the greats of the social dance world. He was a founding member of the Ithaca-based Lindy Troupe, The Lindymints, and performed with the Ithaca Salseros for several years. He choreographed some of the routines for these groups for their performances at venues like, Cornell’s Fall Step, The Dance Flurry, The American Lindy Hop Championships, NADC competitions, The Grass Roots Festival, and the Ithaca Festival etc. As a teacher he has been offering classes for over 15 years in his home village of Wyalusing, PA and surrounding towns. Among the styles that he dances and teaches are, Lindy Hop, Balboa, Fox Trot, West Coast Swing, Zydeco, Salsa, Casino Rueda, Jitterbug, Collegiate Shag, Night Club Two-Step, Cha Cha and Waltz. Among his teachers are, Frankie Manning (the Grand Daddy of Lindy Hop) Mario Robau, Steven Mitchell, John Festa, Sylvia Sykes and Brian Bromka, to mention a few. He has also attended many camps, workshops and festivals of dance including the famous “Herrang Lindy School” near Stockholm, Sweden and Swing Out New Hampshire. He is the founder and artistic director of the North Branch Arts Festival and Art Trail in Northeast PA (now approaching the 14th season), which features a wide variety of arts and dance performances each Columbus Day weekend in Wyalusing, PA. |
