The Art Of Brian Keeler

"The Artists Magazine"  Jan- Feb issue 2023.  This long standing journal for painters featured an eight-page spread on the genre paintings of Brian Keeler.  The text for this article was written by Keeler and excerpted from the recent book, Light on the Figure.   

"Light on the Figure- Aspects of Painting People"  In April of 2022, Keeler released his second art instruction book.  This beautifu 172-page hardcover book is more than an instructional book as it is also a compendium of more than 4 decades of painting people. The book also has a feature unique in publishing- there are youtube links to dozens of painting shown in the book, so the reader can see the works in progress. In short, a unique melding of image, text and the moving image- all to illustrate and share the creative process.  $54.99 plus shipping. American Art Collector Magazine- In the March 2022 issue a six-page spread on Keeler's paintings of rivers and lakes was featured. An article by John O'Hern, the former Arnot Art Museum Director penned an article to accompany the paintings.

Heliodelic Topography- An extensive catalog with an essay by the artist documenting Keeler's one-man-show at the Roberson Museum in Binghamton, NY during 2017-18.  This beautiful full-color catalog reproduces numerous works in the show.  The catalog is available at the North Star Art Gallery in Ithaca, NY or Keeler's studio in Wyalusing, PA.

Workshop Magazine- Winter Issue- 2008-09 - An indepth artice by Editor-n-Chief, Stephen Doherty about the painting classes offered by Brian Keeler in Umbria in Central in Italy.  The article described the working process with photos of work in sequence of completion.


Summer/Fall 2007- Pastelagram
The official journal of the Pastel Society of America (PSA). In this issue Brian Keeler authors an article titled "A Fascination with Italy" where he describes his inspiration and motivation for his many trips to Italy. The article includes several reproductions of pastels and oils of landscapes and figurative work from Umbria, Tuscany and the Aeolian Islands off of Sicily. Everyday Life - Genre Art Northeast
This full color catalog published by Wyalusing's River Light Press presents a survey of contemporary art, which celebrates the quotidian and the fleeting, but meaningful moments as expressed through regional painters, photographers, sculptors and poets. The exhibit was organized by Brian Keeler and features an introductory essay by him. This two part exhibit was held at the Blue Heron Gallery in Wyalusing and at the Laura Craig Gallery in Scranton during the summer and fall of 2006. The Artwork of William Keeler - Pennsylvania Regionalist Painter
The publication of the book about the artwork of William Keeler (1923-1980) was the first project of The River Light Press. The book is titled, “The Artwork of William Keeler- Pennsylvania Regionalist Painter” and was written by the artist’s son Brian Keeler. The book served as the catalog for the retrospective of William Keeler’s paintings held at the Everhart Museum in Scranton, PA in the spring of 2004. The book contains dozens of full color reproductions of the elder Keeler’s paintings and an extensive text with historical facts about the paintings as well as historical information about this region of Pennsylvania. The book also contains a survey of the artists that were active in the Wyalusing area during William Keeler’s life. In addition there is a section of watercolors painted during WW II in the south Pacific with excerpts from the artist’ diary kept during that time.

Watercourse Catalog
The second publication of River Light Press is the catalog for the exhibit of art at the Blue Heron Gallery and the Laura Craig Gallery in Scranton titled, "Watercourse - The Beauty of our Rivers and Streams". The exhibit at these two galleries occurred in the summer and fall of 2005. The catalog is edited by Brian Keeler and presents the work of 23 artists from New York and Pennsylvania, all whom are representing the waterways of the Susquehanna River watershed area. This handsome booklet is sure to make a nice gift for the art and history buff and for those interested in preserving our environment, as this is part of the mission of the exhibit and book. The catalog includes over 40 full color reproductions of the work of these painters, photographers, sculptors, printmakers and ceramic artists. In addition to the beautiful images of the streams of this area, the book also includes the work of several regional poets, whose work here is inspired by the rivers of this area as well. Everhart Catalog
This booklet published by the Everhart Museum in Scranton documents the retrospective exhibition of the work of Brian Keeler held at that museum in the spring of 2004. This 9”x9” catalog, with a heavy paper cover, includes reproductions of many of the artist’s most memorable landscape, figure and still life paintings. An introduction essay by Laura Craig opens the book. American Artist Magazine - August 2003 issue
An article by editor in chief, Stephen M. Doherty documents Brian Keeler’s Italian and Pennsylvania landscapes. There are a limited number of these available for $4.00 from the artist.

A pastel by Brian Keeler featured on the cover of this issue.  Inside a feature article by Brian Explaining about his working processes and motivations.  Also has progressive photos of a work in progress.

 

More Than Nude- September 2012-  A beautiful full color catalog documenting the show at the Orazio Salati Gallery in Binghamton, NY.  An essay by the gallery director and the artist are featured in the catalog.  $15- available from the artist.

 

A Vision of Rhythm-  2009-  An impressive publication that accompanied the artist's one-ma-show at the Pauly Friedman Gallery on the campus of Misericordia University in Dallas, PA in the Summer of 2011.  The full color catalog features reproductions of some of the artist's most beautiful landscapes as well as an essay by gallery director, Brian Bennediti.  $15 available from the artist. 

 

Dramatic Color In the Landscape- Publication release, May 2014. This career recap of the teaching of Brian Keeler is published by the International art book creator, North Light Books.
